Summer Haircuts

It is getting warmer here in OK and Craig and I decided it was time to give the boys a haircut. I've cut it a couple times and we've also taken them to a professional. It is so short when I do it with the clippers, but it is also pretty cheap. Garrett has crazy hair. It is a bit curly and never lays down. I comb it all the time, but if he takes a nap- it's wild again! Turner has pretty tame hair, just lots of cowlicks that make it go weird directions, but it stays pretty flat most of the time. Craig and I decided since summer is just around the corner I would cut their hair and give them a summer cut. Here are the after photos and one of the boys helping to clean up the mess.

Turner and his haircut. I had to bribe him to smile for me! I told him I would put on movers if he would smile and let me take his picture!

Easter- Yes, I know I 'm super late!!

We had a great Easter weekend! It was so busy!! On Good Friday we got up early and headed for Wichita for the boys 2 year pictures. These are just a few of the ones taken of the boys together.

It's hard to get the attention of both boys and get them to smile!!

This is one of my favorites and we didn't get any copies of it! Too many pics to choose from!!

As soon as were done with pics we headed back to Alva for the boys first Easter egg hunt at the nursing home. It didn't take the boys long to figure out what they were supposed to do.

Garrett getting an egg

Then they went inside to pick a prize and meet the Easter Bunny. Garrett loved the Easter Bunny and was probably in a lot of other people's pictures. Turner, not so much.

I love how Garrett is looking at the Bunny!

Turner tolerated being near the Easter Bunny.

We went home and dyed some eggs. The boys had fun, but not so much Craig and I. We decided to do it outside to minimize the mess, which was a good decision. The boys didn't seem to understand to gently drop one egg into a cup at a time. They wanted to toss several in at the same time, so it got a little messy. They did drop a couple, so they both got to eat a hard-boiled egg, which I was really surprised Turner ate his! The next morning we went down to the square for some more Easter fun! The boys participated in the Easter egg hunt. Garrett was about to die seeing all the eggs and not being able to pick them up. Turner won a prize this year- maracas! Then we hung out while the egg drop was done, but didn't actually get to see any of it since our rockstars wanted to be on the stage at the courthouse. We also watched the duck run, which was pretty fun to see.

Garrett upset about waiting for the hunt to begin.

Turner checking out the grass in his bucket.

After the hunt eating jelly beans and showing off their prize.

Our little monkey Turner swinging from the decoration on the stage of the courthouse. He kept doing this over and over!

Garrett running with the ducks down 4th St. by the fire station. They flood the street with water from the fire hydrants and then let the ducks go!

After the duck race, we took a quick trip to Enid to get Garrett some new jeans that fit his skinny behind. We left the boys to hang out with MeMa and PaPa. Then it was off to the lake for Craig's family Easter gathering.

Turner being silly at the lake

Garrett on the big kids' scooter. They loved playing with the big kid toys!

Garrett hunting eggs at the lake. He kept picking up the eggs and putting them in the back of this dump truck. It would only fit one, so he would give me the egg and replace it with another in the back of the dump truck.

Sunday morning the Easter Bunny came and left this stuff in the boys Easter baskets.

Garrett was quite excited and went straight for his new computer. Turner was very unhappy about the change in his routine and wouldn't look to see what he got.

He was alright once Daddy broke out the chocolate! Chocolate bunny for breakfast?? Yummy!!

Garrett enjoyed his as well!

Turner eventually warmed up and looked at his other stuff in his basket, but stuck pretty close to Daddy.

Garrett really enjoys his new computer!!

Sunday afternoon we were on the road again for my family's Easter gathering. The boys had another egg hunt and this is a pic of them with the cake my mom made just for them. These boys love cake!!

We had a great time visiting everyone, but we were all exhausted by Sunday evening!!

Turner

Turner started out as our little guy, a couple ounces less than his brother and a minute younger. He soon gained on size and height. He outweighs Garrett by 5 lbs, but they are the same height. I have loved his little feet since the moment I saw them. They are so wide and chunky!! I love them! He has always been the first to do things- roll over, crawl, walk, and talk. For a long time he has been talking in paragraphs, we just couldn't understand it! We still can't understand a lot of it. He is absolutely in love with the Imagination Movers. If you have watched every episode of the movers, then you can understand about 90% of what he says. If you haven't, good luck understanding much! He also loves Lightning McQueen, The Polar Express and Finding Nemo. He has such the little imagination. He loves to wear a bucket on his foot, because in one of the mover shows, Mover Rich gets a bucket stuck on his foot. He also carries around a Black and Decker phillips head screwdriver. He calls it his scribble stick! (also a mover thing) Notice I was very specific on the screwdriver. If we cannot find that particular screwdriver, no others will do. He will cry until we find the black and decker phillips screwdriver. He is branching out a bit now, and carries around a Lightning McQueen car Garrett got for Valentine's day. He enjoys putting Lightning in his Napa truck and driving around. He usually sleeps with either the screwdriver or Lightning. And he clutches whatever it is all through the night! He quotes movies all the time- he will tell Craig- You'll get stuck out there!! Which is from finding Nemo. He also says the mover motto- Reach high, think big, work hard, have fun! Even in church. He is also great at singing and dancing! And playing the guitar! He loves to eat potatoes- especially tater tots and french fries. He's not too big on fruits and vegetables, but most toddlers aren't. Turner very rarely has to go to timeout. He minds his mom and dad pretty well. When daddy is home, he is a total daddy's boy. He likes to rock, which I love. If he has a booboo, it must be kissed, no matter how minor. He gives great hugs, and pats you on the back while hugging. He is just so cuddly. He hates to make a mess, so he is a very neat eater. He doesn't like to go outside and get dirty, he likes to be clean. He will clean up himself after he eats, cause he doesn't want to have anything on him! Turner has been such a joy, as his brother has been. The other day he was twirling in the kitchen and then I heard him say, "Ashes, ashes," and then he fell down on the floor. He can count to 14 and can say his abc's. I love to hear him sing "Itty Pider." He is adventurous and loves to climb. He climbs on everything! He can usually get down, too. He spent most of the morning today rehearsing for his rock concert. My mom said he would close the door and when she would go to check on him he was playing his guitar, dancing, and singing! He is our little thinker as well. He doesn't like to interact at concerts or with TV shows. He likes to sit back and take it all in. He is very observant and doesn't want to be bothered when he is really concentrating. Turner is just such a sweet little boy and I am so glad we were blessed with 2!

Garrett

This post is going to be all about Garrett, my first born. Sometimes I feel like he is not as celebrated as Turner since he seems to hit all of his milestones a couple of weeks after Turner. I guess that's the downside to being a twin. Garrett is so adorable and there are some things that are just Garrett. Like if something can be made a mess of, Garrett will do it. Even if you don't think he can make a mess, he will find a way. He is the messiest kid I know and he loves it!! I think the reason Garrett has hit his milestones a couple of weeks after Turner is because Garrett isn't going to do something until he can do it pretty well. When he was 4 months old, the pediatrician was concerned that Garrett hadn't rolled over yet. She wanted him to go to physical therapy, but I said I wasn't concerned, knowing I knew a few pt's that might give me some advice. And of course, before the week was up, Garrett rolled over. And not just once, but several times. I remember he was in his crib and I caught him rolling over. I ran to get the video camera, put him on his belly, and he rolled over before I could press the record button. This happened 5 or 6 times before I was able to get it on video. It was the same way with walking. The weekend of their 1st birthday we went to Texas for my brother's wedding. The boys were the ring bearers so we had been pushing the walking thing pretty hard hoping they could walk down the aisle. Turner had been walking for a couple of weeks and could take a dozen steps or so pretty well. Garrett was a walking machine with his push toys, but didn't do any walking without a toy or some help. He was a madman with those push toys!! You needed to stay out of his way or he would yell at you!! Especially the furniture! Well, the wedding came and Garrett still wasn't walking, so both boys were carried down the aisle. Later, when we were hanging out at the hotel after the reception, Garrett decided since the pressure was off, it was time to walk. Did he walk a couple of steps from me to Craig?? No, he started walking across the room! No need for practice, he just wanted to go all out!

I've also really enjoyed Garrett's speech development. For the last year Garrett has been talking, but it is in another language. He has words for things, and sometimes we can figure them out, and sometimes we can't. An example is the word cookie. Garrett calls cookies kiecoos. He just mixes the syllables up. This is a pretty easy one. I was a bit worried after saying kiecoos for the past year, that he would be saying kiecoos when he was in junior high. Another word I've figured out is mangas. Any guesses?? That would be Gramma or Gramma's (like Gramma's house) He has several of the letters right, just mixed up a bit. He has a special word for grape, which I have yet to figure out. One of my favorite expressions of his is "Are you, Mommy?" He's not able to say "Where are you, Mommy?" He just gets out the are you part and I think it is totally adorable in his little baby voice. He does this for other things like trucks, Turner and Daddy, too. Garrett had really only been using 1 word phrases until about his birthday. Then it seemed like overnight he decided he could talk in sentences and then did so. Now he can put together 4 or 5 word sentences sometimes. I guess when he gets into school he won't read until he can read on a 5th grade level, or do math until he can count to 100. At least we will be prepared for that!

Garrett also gets tickled at the funniest things. One day Craig was reading him a book about the zoo. They were reading about pandas and the fact they eat bamboo. Garrett cracked up at the word bamboo. We kept saying it over and over and everytime he giggled and giggled. One weekend he stayed with my mom she had said something about bibbity, bobbity, boo, and again, he cracked up and thought it was the funniest word ever. Yesterday he had a shirt on it that had a high top sneaker on it that looked like it was from the '80's. I told him it was a high top shoe. He again thought it was the funniest thing and laughed everytime I said high top shoe. He even tried to say it, but it sounded more like ap-uh-too. He thought that was pretty funny too! If you ever need a smile, try saying something that will crack this kid up, because you can't help but smile when he gets tickled at something!

I remember the moment Garrett was born. I don't really remember him crying when he came out, I just remember the relief. I was relieved that he was okay, and I was relieved that I could breathe again!! I was amazed at how much easier it was with only one baby and couldn't believe they had another to go! The nurses wrapped him up and brought him to me to see while they worked on getting Turner out. It was love at first sight!! I had never seen a more beautiful baby in my life! Now when he giggles, I know that I have never heard a more beautiful sound in my life and he is still the cutest kid I've ever seen!

I think that's enough about Garrett for today. I just wanted to celebrate him and his Garrett-ness. Sometimes he drives me crazy, but I love him more than anything!! Next up will be Turner's turn. The other cutest kid I've ever seen!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Garrett and Turner!!

The first party we had planned, we had to reschedule due to a huge snowstorm! We were able to get everything postponed until the next weekend, which worked out great! We rented the Rec Center and it was a great place for a party! When we arrived, Grandma had the cake all ready. The boys would not stay out of it!! The cake is the same cake as the Imagination Movers Un-Party episode.

We had balloons is the gym for the kids to play with and a bounce house. Neither of the boys were really into the bounce house, but the older kids enjoyed it. Garrett loved kicking around the balloons.

Turner had fun rolling on the floor and climbing the bleachers!

The birthday cake, made by my mom. She's really good! It looks better than the one they used on TV.

After some play time it was time to open presents. The boys were about to die from not opening presents and not being able to eat cake! They've definitely got the whole birthday thing figured out. Here they are opening one of their favorite gifts- a front loader and a dump truck from Aunt Nona.

This is Garrett laughing at us singing Happy Birthday. They both loved being sung to!

Blowing out candles

Finally! Cake and ice cream!!

At the end of the party, they decided they did like the bounce house!!

We had a great time! The boys did too!! And it was so nice not to have to clean up! Thank you everyone who got to come. We hope you had a good time, too!

Blizzard 09

The boys 2nd birthday was March 27th. If anyone lives around us, you know that we got a lovely winter storm/ blizzard that day. We had to postpone the boys' party until the next weekend, but we had fun just the four of us anyways! The day before, we got Garrett sand for his sandbox. That was his gift from us. That boy loves to get dirty!!

He loved being in the back of the truck with the sand! Turner hates getting dirty, but thought he could help dad with the wheelbarrow.

Garrett enjoying his new sandbox!

The next day, their birthday, school was cancelled due to several inches of sleet and freezing rain. The boys and I stayed in our jammies all day! When Craig got home from work, we let them open another present- guitars! These boys love making music!! Especially playing guitars!

After their nap, they got to help me frost their cake. That really means they got to eat a bunch of frosting!!
Can you tell which one likes to get dirty and which one doesn't??

After supper we let them open the presents they were supposed to get at their party. We couldn't wait for them to wait another week!! I think Craig and I get more excited than the boys! We just love to see them excited!!

Turner, the sports fan, got a basketball goal.Garrett got some new sand toys to represent his new sandbox.

I guess Turner got tired of pulling Garrett in the wagon his sand toys came in- he had to lay down and take a rest!

Then it was time for cake and ice cream! The cake is supposed to be in the shape of a car. I didn't have much to work with, since I had not been planning to make a cake.

They loved being sung Happy Birthday to and blowing out the candles! And they also enjoyed eating cake and ice cream!

Friday night we got 24 inches of snow! What fun! We took the boys out after it had melted a little and warmed up nicely. Turner cried almost the whole time. He hated it and didn't want to touch it.

Craig helping them build a snow hill. It was supposed to be a snowman, but never really made it!

They had a great birthday weekend, even if all of our plans had to be cancelled!! I can't believe they are already 2!
